The PACKCAT patented twin hull design
combines tunnel hull catamaran performance and landing craft
capability for the first time. Twin hulls create port and starboard
buoyancy points for increased stability, provide shallower draft
and allow the hull to sit level on the beach if the boat goes
dry. Its standard bow door, large cargo deck and all-welded aluminum
construction offer unmatched toughness and versatility. All together,
the PACKCAT is the highest performance,
most power and fuel efficient, shallow draft workboat available
on the market.
The tunnel
starts high out of the water at the bow to provide good cutwater
and runs at a downward angle aft exiting the stern. As engine
power is applied, the tunnel generates tremendous lift that helps
the boat up on plane. At speed, the tunnel traps air making the
boat lighter on the water - increasing top end speed and fuel
economy. This trapped air is also pressurized when coming down,
providing a soft air cushion when pounding in rough weather.
The PACKCAT catamaran hull requires
twin engines and dual fuel tanks installed on centerline of each
hull. Twin outboards, inboard-outboards or surface piercing drive
systems can be accommodated. At speed, the tunnel traps air between
the hulls, minimizing drag and increasing performance. However,
this trapped air will cause cavitation in jet drives, therefore,
the PACKCAT is not suitable for
jet drive applications. Once the hull size and drive system are
determined, we will incorporate the standard and custom outfitting
options required to complete your boat.
